About the map
How the map was made
The map is built from the nationwide timetable published by DELFI e. V., which we import again every night. When you open the page, the map cuts out the 24 hours up to that moment. After that it stays as it is; reload the page and it ends at the current time again.
Every train journey travels its route as a dot, at a steady speed between two stops. The timetable mostly gives only straight lines from stop to stop; we rerouted long straight lines along other routes and the main railway lines from OpenStreetMap. Where that didn't work, the train takes the straight line.
This is the plan, not what actually happened: delays and cancellations are missing. A train counts as running from its first departure to its last arrival, including while it waits at a station.
