About the map
What is counted
The map is built from the nationwide timetable published by DELFI e. V. for Tuesday, 13 October 2026, the same 41,579 train journeys as on the map Every train, on a Tuesday: long-distance, regional and S-Bahn trains. Every departure from a stop in Germany counts. A train departs from each of its stops except the last one. Trains that appear twice in the timetable or run coupled together count once.
A stop is a station with all its platforms, even when they sit on several levels. Stops across the border are not counted.
The height of a peak shows how many trains leave there in the hour around the time shown, from half an hour before to half an hour after. So that nothing jumps, the edges of that hour fade out softly over ten minutes. The tallest peak of the day stands at Berlin Ostkreuz at 07:58: 118 departures in the hour.
- train departures that day
- 532,137
- stops with at least one departure
- 6,256
- stops handle half of all departures, 15.6% of all stops
- 978
This is the plan, not the real day: delays and cancellations are missing. The map shows the day from 4 am to 1 am.
